An Ohio man received his sentence for his part in an attempted robbery in 2015.
Christopher S. Lindeman, 28, of Delphos, Ohio, was sentenced Tuesday in Allen Superior Court to serve two years of a five-year sentence for attempted robbery, a Level 3 felony. Another three years were ordered suspended, during which he'll serve on probation.
Lindeman pleaded guilty March 4 to attempting to rob a Fort Wayne methadone clinic March 30, 2015. Lindeman admitted he loitered in the waiting room of the Center for Behavioral Health, then barged into the office and grabbed a cash box on a counter. In the course of grabbing and running off with the cash box, he shoved two employees, injuring them. As he ran off, another employee tried to grab him, pulling off his jacket in the attempt. Two clients of the center chased him into the parking lot, and one of them struggled with him and got the cash box and cash away from him. Police said the cash and cash box were recovered.
Police later received a tip that Lindeman was the one who tried to rob the clinic. They said victims identified him from a photo lineup. Police also obtained DNA evidence from the jacket that had been grabbed off him during the struggle at the clinic, and they matched DNA from the jacket to a DNA swab taken from Lindeman while he was in the Van Wert County, Ohio, jail, according to the affidavit.
Lindeman has 253 days' jail credit and was ordered to pay restitution to the Center for Behavior Health in the sum of $554.51.

It will be at least another week before City Council acts on a $1.71 million contract to design the first phase of Fort Wayne's riverfront development project. But the questions raised before council voted 6-3 to delay its anticipated approval will take longer — and be more difficult — to resolve.
At the suggestion of Michael Barranda, R-at large, council deferred a vote on a contract with Design Collaborative Inc. so representatives of the city and the Fort Wayne Community Foundation could develop a mechanism to represent and perhaps attract private donors. Barranda is also a board member at the foundation, which has pledged $3 million of the $12 million raised or pledged to date.
The first phase, however, is expected to cost about $20 million — and Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll said only $3 million or so of that initial $12 million will be available for construction. That means millions more must be raised from various sources, such as the city's Legacy Fund, the Capital Improvement Board, the state's Regional Cities program and private donors like the Community Foundation.
"We had been pushing (the creation of an independent) commission (to manage the project), but I don't think that will fly. But maybe we can form an advisory committee (to give donors more of a voice," Bennett said. About half of the foundation's original $3 million pledge has already been committed on building demolition, improvements to vegetation along the banks and the purchase of two boats that will provide cruises on the rivers: A $550,000 replica of the boats that traveled the Wabash and Erie Canal in the mid-1800s and an amphibious craft that can operate on land or water.
"We'll decide what our next role will be in August, but we won't stop with $3 million," Bennett said.
As The News-Sentinel first reported last month, the $20 million first-phase construction estimate represents a considerable increase over the original $8 million estimate. But when quizzed by council Tuesday, Moll said the added cost reflects a larger, more ambitious project.
"We could have built just a promenade for $8 million, but there would be nothing planned for the north shore (of the St. Mary's River). "The community wouldn't settle for that," Moll said. "People ask, 'Why haven't you turned a shovel yet?' I can't remember anything that has had more community support, but this is a complex project. ."
Current plans include not only a promenade but a park pavilion, event lawn, entry plaza with sculpture, an educational water feature, streetscape improvements, a central plaza, riverfront terraces, an elevated boardwalk, dock and children’s play area. Sweetwater Sound will provide funds for bandshell.
But the relative lack of private investment to date generated questions from Council President Russ Jehl, R-2nd., who noted the current plans lack the entertainment venues envisioned in the city's original $500,000 conceptual vision. "We don't want to build a dead end," Jehl said. "Where do you eat or dink?"
"If we knew it would already be developed," Moll said. "But this is the lynchpin that will set the table for private development. When we built Parkview Field, who knew we would get the Ash center?" Moll added that riverfront improvements should boost the planned redevelopment of the Columbia Street "Landing" just a few blocks from the river, and Ron Dick of Design Collaborative said he's exploring development potential "at the edges and beyond" phase one. Dick also told Jehl parking concerns are being reviewed.
The city is concentrating its effort on public spaces now in part because it cannot use its power of eminent domain for private development. The $20 million construction budget does not include the city's cost of land acquisition, some of which is being challenged in court. But if all goes well, Moll said, construction could begin next summer with completion by late 2018.

The country, as a whole, should have listened to Fort Wayne Police Chief Garry Hamilton speak about race relations and law enforcement on Monday — at least locally.
Hamilton was the featured speaker Monday at the Rotary Club of Fort Wayne's meeting. The club meets at noon every Monday at Parkview Field.
Hamilton's speech, "Building Trust Between Law Enforcement and People of Color," focused on the good things law enforcement officers do in this community, such as organize a winter coat giveaway and build relationships within the community by having officers play basketball games with citizens. Hamilton hopes to do more outreach once he steps down as police chief on Aug. 1.
Hamilton said these relationships need to be cultivated with all citizens — not just people of color — which is something this country needs to keep in mind when the news reports on the deaths of black men and Dallas and Baton Rouge police officers.
Hamilton presented a short video about the Civil Rights movement and said there has been a "history of mistrust," especially where law enforcement is concerned.
"We need your help," he said. "We want to be a part of something that's great. I'm going to break down the walls of hatred."
During a question-and-answer session, Hamilton said media play a part in forming that trust. He said he thought the national media tend to put the negative before the positive to "get the community fired up." He praised local media for calling the department to get the whole story, as he stressed transparency during his tenure as police chief the last two years.
He also said officers here are on high alert and aware of their surroundings. He said sometimes people are upset when two cars go to a single call. "I want my colleague to go home today," he said.
He also said officers undergo special training at the academy to deal with verbal confrontation, and the court is the place to take care of justice.

WORDS OF WISDOM

X
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees, but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this message to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or just hit delete....

Remember to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember to say “I love you” to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment, for someday that person will not be there.

Give time to love; give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away.
George Carlin (may he rest in peace)

David Christopher Roach just the people who caucused you in- what? 20 precinct folks at most? why didn you sign up to run in the primary?
youre not in my district; but good luck vs senate pro tem leader David Long; husband of Melissa Long; and long time 4th district city council man.
on the other hand- hes become a pro-lifer LOON; Cathie Humbargers puppet; and he supports an assault weapon in every home with 30 round magazines and lots and lots of ammo for all.
and hes got his nose up gov pences hoo ha as well.
so- and whats up with this david long constitution crazy talk? maybe he would be willing to repeal the 2nd amendment and make guns a privilege for "proper persons"- people who pass a rigorous background check; and mental health screening? oh and lets drug test just for fun. Only military; national guard; certified veterans and others should be able to own "assault weapons".
OH AND PLEASE LEGALIZE RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA- Prohibition doesnt wkr hasnt worked and will take the profit and greed and violence out of the drug cartels trafficking weed; and keep all drugs from minors.

Juli Dominguez for Indiana State Senate District 16Here is the story on how I came to be caucused in so recently. I had never thought about running for office during this election cycle, therefore, I was busy volunteering with Senator Sander's campaign and other local Democrats' campaigns. A few people had contacted me and asked me if I would consider running against Senator David Long. Since no other candidate had stepped forward, and the Senator was to go unchallenged, I said yes. I completed the necessary paperwork in Indianapolis and I gave a speech at the Allen County Democratic Headquarters. I answered voters' questions at the headquarters and they voted to have my name put on the ballot. I am the fourth teacher from my school district to run for office this cycle. Does that say something or not?

Juli Dominguez for Indiana State Senate District 16As for guns, I think a middle ground is best. Most gun owners obey the law and I believe that they should be able to keep their guns. However, I do believe that there should be much more accountability with gun ownership. For example, I do believe that all gun owners should have passed a background check that does include a mental health screening. All future gun owners should have been granted a current gun operating license after passing the background check/mental health screening. Additionally, before they are given a license, they should also be required to complete a gun safety class before a firearm can be purchased. As for recreational marijuana, yes, it should be legalized.
UnlikeReply13 hrs
David Christopher Roach so your for more gun control? for the NRA and these stupid gun nuts- as compared to responsible gun owners who obey the laws and are willing to let the courts sort out anyproblems rather than shooting cops and soldiers at their doors or wherever- because we;;- you know- "from my cold dead hands"
GOOD FOR YOU!
I hope the the firearms safetya dn reform activist groups send you a contribution. heck- even gabby giffords and her husband Mark? Scott? Kelly are gun owners and support gun safety reforms ; byt yet are loathed by the NRA.
So-THANK YOU FOR TAKING A REASONABLE RESPONSIBLE GUN SAFETY /REFORM/CONTROL STANCE.
as for WEED- California is finally going to hold a "reeferendum" on weed- and legalize it like in Colorado.
So while we're at it- Heres some vexing election questions-
that Senator Long; Governor Penice and the GOP/Tea baggers wont act on.

I personally dont care what gay people do- they should have the same rights as anybody else- "equal justice under the law"- like it says on the Supreme court building.

sunday carry out sales- why not forbid sales on friday instead of sunday?> one day is as good as another- unless theres some religious underpinning in which case its unconstitutional.

Indiana constitution Article one- subsections- clearly state no money for religious based schools; and clearly supports tax money only for public schools- I imagine yousupport that and glenda Ritz like I do.

Repeal .08 and replace it with .12- since Indiana got along fine for decades ; and did just fine

Repeal the Nanny state law about mandatory seat belts- whenim just going to the corner store or driving under 35 MPH around town- it should be optional; as its just a pretext for the cops to stop people.
If its about safety; why not mandatory seat belts on school buses to save the lives of our precious children?
I believe in freedom of choice- and i always buckle up when i fell its the safe thing to do- i dont need the state intruding into my life

by the same reasoning- why isnt there a mandatory Helmet law for motorcyclists? - special interest carve outs .

How about fully funding school bus transportation for all K-12 school children? after all- if Indiana wants to attract safety minded millennials - this is a must- who needs the extra aggravation to their daily work day of "whos going to drop off and pick up the kids?- We all grew up with this- that the way its always been and its worked pretty well to now. whos stupid idea was this ? and find th emoney- its there.

Legalize VIVA LAS VEGAS- casion hotel resort business- every economic development tourism entertainment idea is a gamble and everything these days is based on IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME- well- if we cant build it they assuredly wont come- because they cant- if we let the private sector developers and operators build them; they will be on the hook; so its a no risk gamble-a sure bet?

Lower the state legal drinking age to 19- Millennials want something to d and somewhere to go but if then arent allowed into so many venuces because theyre not 21; no minors allowed; they will leave to wherever you are allowed at 18; 19 ; 21.

Juli Dominguez for Indiana State Senate District 16David Christopher Roach you have great ideas! Yes, I completely stand behind Glenda Ritz 100%! At this time, I do not see any justification for not selling alcohol on Sundays. The majority of Hoosiers have spoken and they are asking for alcohol sales. They are also asking for mass transit and yes, trains that connect to various major cities in the midwest would be very helpful to both business and to tourists. I agree with you, if we are the crossroads of America, we need to make sure we have a transit system and roads that people can use when traveling to, from and through Indiana. We need to market our Hoosier hospitality and give tourists a reason to come and spend money here. I do understand your voting concerns and your concerns in giving young people something to do.

David Christopher Roach WHY NOT A RECALL PROCESS FOR BAD CANDIDATES OR BAD POLITICIANS? i WANT TO RECALL THE mAYOR AS DO THOUSANDS OF DISGRUNTLED CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS AND TAX PAYERS- OTHER NATIONS HAVE A NO CONFIDENCE VOTE PROCESS-
oops- cap lock key stuck sorry.
Our party leadership has failed us so many times- Tommy Schrader for Congress; no candidates fielded for so many city and county offices and even regional state level offices- its like they have givenup- we get 11th hour caucuses- which i call Bull-Winkle- - "watch me pull a candidate out of my hat"
why arent precinct committee persons names made public from the county election boards? seems to me they are as important if not more so than all thes "neighborhood assocaitions- they are duly elected through the election system process; they add another layor of accountibility and they are the ones who can caucus in various election and party vacancies- if the Mayor fell off a ladder tommorow and broke his neck; who would choose his replacement?
I m not saying its any fervent prayer and wish of mine; of course- im just stating a hypothecitcl.
OR- again- the tommy schrader debacle by the party- no partisan accountibility-oops- my bad by our chairman- i would say YOURE FIRED"- THE LOT OF YA-
yes- like donald trump would say- and so now what? they didnt even bother to circulate any petition nominations by preconct persons; by unorganized labor; via their neighborhood associations; or anybody- just roll over and die- yay for jim banks; we lost were number two again; a faint smattering of applause for that april snyder giurl- the libertarian but with straight ticket voting- push one and done- party- well- that throw s a wrench in the machine. In fact- why didnt tha prty- make clear the totally unqualfied barely literate; name recognition and other issues to the pbulic/ dont vote for this guy because hes the most unqualfied candiate weve ever had- ahd heres why and be factual- do a background check- obtain h HS records; ask him to show his reasons and results of being institutionalized for mental illness- no reason to be mean- just show the records- is he dangerous? bi polar? schizo? or a complete ful blown lunatic that belongs in arkham asylim if the state had any mental healrth care institutions at all? they ve thrown all the other mental incompetents defectives defieicnts out onto the strrt; turningour jaisl and prison systems int ARKHAM ASYLUMS THEMSELVES. - a jail guard knws the inmate is a criminal and wants to escaep; but a totally insane inmate( think charlie manson ; or Hannibal the cannibal;for example-)= is a menace to everybody.
well- that runs the short list- f whats wrong with indiana in my opinion and ideas that only require paper and ink to allow the good times to roll.
thank you for the soap box and vote STRAIGHT TICKET DEMOCRAT THIS FALL; SUPPORT
JULI DOMINGUEZ
hmm- along with guillermo palindo for county council- that should turn out the latino vote..
