X-WIRE PUBLISHING COMMENT POSTING POLICY/ DISCLAIMER.

UAW Facebook Comments Policy
International Union, UAW

cut/pasted from uaw intl facebook page- their official comment posting policy.

I THINK THIS ABOUT SAYS IT ALL, AND SO  SHALL IT BE MY POLICY AS WELL.
A nice well thought out, concise, comprehensive comment/posting disclaimer..
ps- support your local  unions whenever possible. Buy american made automobiles,
drink union made beer. Shop at union grocery stores( KROGER) .
We welcome comments to the International Union, UAW’s Facebook Page.
The purpose of this site is to present matters of interest to UAW members and the community in general. While it is an online discussion site, and opposing points of view will be respected and presented, the International is under no legal obligation whatsoever to run any post.
The page exists to carry forward the collective view of UAW members, as determined by their elected leadership. That view is carried out by the page administrators. We try to err on the side of an open and frank debate/discussion while at the same time adhering to the primary goal of the page, which is to promote the International’s viewpoint and that of the labor movement in general.
Abuse of the privilege to post on the International’s Facebook page will not be tolerated and can result in having posts deleted and/or having posting privileges revoked.
Abuse can be defined as:
Numerous, repetitive posts designed not to enlighten the debate, but to saturate the page with a poster’s own thoughts or that of a particular issue and/or candidate. An example of this type of behavior would be “trolls” who are clearly trying to disrupt the International’s viewpoint with numerous posts about anti-worker positions/candidates.
Comments or content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, genetics, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or intellectual disability or sexual orientation.
Personal attacks.
Posts that spread falsehoods or unsubstantiated rumors about local, regional or international leadership. No one has the right to wrongly accuse someone of criminal activity and/or dishonesty.
Using a phony name/profile.
Posts that are clearly off topic.
Vulgar language. Keep it clean.
Posts that advocate illegal activity.
Spam, or unauthorized promotion of commercial interests.
Infringement on copyrights or trademarks, including those of the International.
Keep in mind that the International does not normally answer members' specific questions about grievances, contract issues, in-plant issues, benefits, members' personal discipline cases or other matters that are best suited to be answered by their local elected representatives following the usual UAW protocol, which is:
-- Immediate local union chain of command, i.e., steward, committee chairs, local executive board, including president.
-- From there, the unresolved issue should go to the International Representative, who will direct whether the issue should go to the region or a specific department of the International.
-- Members also have the Public Review Board as a final internal way of settling unresolved disputes.
Please note that the comments expressed on our Facebook page are not necessarily the opinions of the International Union or the International Executive Board.
