i told them : like George Bush Sr said "Read My Lips- NO NEW TAXES"
I got into politics due to i and all my gearhead hot rod friends had nice cars- we hate rotten roads because it wrecks our cars- Nice cars- otherwise- whats the point ? I'd rather drive a POS old rust bom that i can throw away when its wrecked- than have a nice car and have to fix the wheels tires; alignment shocks brakes etc- due to rotten roads.
(also synchronize all city stop lights; stop the police harsssment of morotists; and make the buses run on time and late at night ( dui) and bus huts so we al dont have to get rained' snowed on; etc.
this was back in 1991- and same as ever since; so when Dr Crawford talks of the value of good roads streets curbs sidewalks and so on_ I agree-
BUT- If we dont SHRED THE CITY CREDIT CARD NOW!! -and make t5hem CUT SPENDING on all this downtown luxury crap- then they will simply play a shell game on us- throw it all into a big pot of cash; and STILL IGNORE the neighborhoods and such; and pour this new tax cash into the downtown LUXURY PORK BARRELL-
Im not gor good streets; etc esp PARKS - (shoaff park used to be humming with cruisers and such for years then it stopped. and now they are largely empty.
If Henry Surack Doden and "the usual suspects" have cash to spend they will- If we cut up their "credit card; ALL THIS MADNESS STOPS.

I ve lived here in fort wayne over 50 years; this isnt my first rodeo.
SO- I would have voted NO for the downtown Ball park- WHY? its all public cash- its never turned a profit NOR beak even. all this talk of well- we draw so many XYZ number of "guests"- fine- and they spend all this cash? fine- does it return to these 250 million dolLars of WELFARE QUEEN PUBLIC TAX SUBSIDIZED PROJECTS- ? noo!
iF a group of Chinese BILLIONAIRES; OR DONALD TRUMP OR CARL ICAHN; ETC- want to come to Fort Wayne and spend 100 billion dollars; buy up every real estate property; vacant home; build anything thye wqant downtown; or wherever; fine- its all private cash; and therefore its a good investment. Im positive about fort wayne; I want to see everybody gorw and live long and prosper here. BUT I have a different means and method of doing so- the basics; fixing whats broke; doing what needs done; not pork barrel special interest earmarks.

Stop Fort Wayne Downtown Arena
Folks, you have to get those emails sent in, I can't do it for you. You also need to show up Tuesday and let your voice be heard, I can't do that for you either.
I agree with Dr. Crawford on this comment:
"Without good streets, sewers, parks and other infrastructure, you don’t have a good city."
I DO NOT agree with his choice
Governing is about choices. Without additional funding, our streets will not be maintained and each year road conditions will worsen".
Some questions have to be asked, will the $6.7 million plus $6.7 million match be added to the current budget of $50 million (see attached pic) going forward for a total of $63.4 million?
Where is the $5 million in Federal Matching projects money going?
Is Fort Wayne that bad off that without this NEW TAX our streets will not be maintained, but we will spend $7 Million on trails, $1.1 Million on front door Ft Wayne and $850,000 on Walk and Bike Fort Wayne?
What about All 2016 excess STATE Reserves going to roads (see pic), How much does Fort Wayne get?
How much of the $430 Million in local income tax reserves will Fort Wayne get? Then what portion of those funds going to Allen County will Fort Wayne get?
What is the total dollar amount of the 1.5 cents of the state sales tax on gas will Fort Wayne get?
We have multiple new rivers of money flowing in to Fort Wayne, so why the NEW TAX?
